A Note to Parents from KPAC Koinonia Academy (KA) can not exist without the volunteer efforts of our parents! The school needs your help in so many ways. As teachers and staff stay focused on their students, the classroom, and their tremendous responsibility to fulfill the mission of KA, our parents contribute time and treasure for the multitude of other activities and services that enrich school life that we wouldn't otherwise be able to have at our small school. The Koinonia Parents Advisory Council (KPAC) exists to organize and administer our parents’ service of time and treasure. Please read this very important information: A. The new KPAC Process We are doing things differently this year. In order to save paper and ink and reduce the hours to administer KPAC, we are transitioning to an electronic system. Please record your service hours on our new internet portal located here: KPAC Service Report Summary: This can also be found in our website under KA Families/KPAC Service Report Summary. B. Your KPAC Requirements Parents are required to help KA in two ways each school year: 1. Service Hours: Each family must donate 40 hours of school service each school year. This is done in a variety of ways such as being a class parent, volunteering as substitute teachers, cleaning the school, doing yard work, etc. You will receive a quarterly report on how many hours you have completed. The 40 hours must be completed by the last day of school. Due to the unpredictability of this school year, we highly recommend that you fulfill your hours as soon as possible. 2. Gift Cards: Each family must purchase enough gift cards to raise $175 for the school. This can be done in 2 ways: 1. ShopRite and/or Stop and Shop gift cards: KA earns about 5% back on these gift cards. Order here: KPAC Grocery Gift Card Order Form. This form is also on our website under KA Families/KPAC Grocery Gift Card Order Form. You can order anytime within the week, however, your order must be placed by 8:30 AM on Thursdays in order to be processed for that week. Write a check for the exact amount made out to “KPAC” and send it in with your child on Thursdays. Your child will give the check to their teacher, who will give it to the parent volunteers on duty at the school that day. By the end of the day Thursday (same day) the gift cards will be distributed back to the teachers who will then give them to the children before they return home on Thursday. (We are also working on payment using Venmo. Please stay tuned.) For questions regarding Grocery Gift cards, please contact Marianne Benson at KPACGiftCards@KoinoniaAcademy. And/or… 2. Scrip Gift Cards purchased directly online at www.shopwithscrip.com. (See Separate instructions on Scrip). These cards earn a varying percentage per gift card. You can see what that percentage is when you order the cards. (Note: You can combine the use of Gift Cards and Scrip Gift Cards or just use one type.) For questions regarding Scrip Gift Cards, please contact Guadalupe Chango at yerovi77@hotmail.com. Finally, families can “opt out” of these duties by paying a fee. For further information on that please see our Financial Officer, Mrs. Dawn Neimeyer. Parents’ participation at KA is vital to run our school. These opportunities are a great way to get involved. Thank you very much for all the service you have done in the past and will do in this year. It is very much appreciated! If you have any questions regarding KPAC in general, please contact Dawn Hudock at KPAC@KoinoniaAcademy.org. |
